Kerala PSC NCA recruitment confuses many candidates who see “NCA” next to post names in notifications and exam programmes. NCA stands for No Candidate Available. When a ranked list does not have a candidate from a particular reserved community to fill a reserved turn, Kerala PSC issues a separate NCA notification only for that community. The December 2026 exam programme alone has NCA categories for Confidential Assistant, LD Typist, Driver and Forest Driver posts.
What Is Kerala PSC NCA Recruitment?
| Item | Explanation |
|---|---|
| Full form | No Candidate Available |
| Why issued | No candidate from a reserved community in the main ranked list |
| Who can apply | Only members of the community named in the notification |
| Example | “Confidential Assistant Gr II – I NCA – Ezhava/Thiyya/Billava” |
| Numbering | I NCA, II NCA, III NCA… shows how many times NCA was notified |
How NCA Works – Step by Step
- Kerala PSC prepares a ranked list for a post.
- Vacancies are filled using the rotation of reservation turns.
- When a reserved turn comes and no candidate from that community is left in the list, the turn is reported as “NCA”.
- Kerala PSC then notifies the post again only for that community.
- If no candidate is found again, the next NCA notification (II NCA, III NCA) is issued.
Communities Seen in NCA Notifications
Common NCA communities include Ezhava/Thiyya/Billava, Muslim, Latin Catholic/Anglo Indian (LC/AI), Hindu Nadar, Viswakarma, SC, ST, SCCC (SC converted to Christianity), Dheevara and others.
Benefits of NCA Notifications
- Less competition: Only one community can apply.
- Higher age limit in many cases: NCA notifications often allow additional age relaxation. Check each notification.
- Faster appointment: Vacancies already exist.
How to Apply
Apply online through your Kerala PSC one-time registration profile. Make sure your community certificate (and non-creamy layer certificate where needed) is valid. Upload documents only when asked.
Where to Find NCA Notifications
They appear in the regular Kerala PSC extraordinary gazettes on keralapsc.gov.in with words like “I NCA” or “NCA–SC” in the title. Our Kerala PSC notification 2026 page lists recent gazettes.
Common Mistakes
- Applying for an NCA post without belonging to the notified community.
- Not having a valid non-creamy layer certificate for OBC communities.
- Missing the confirmation step before the exam.
Example
Suppose a ranked list for Driver Grade II has no Muslim candidate left when a Muslim reservation turn comes. Kerala PSC reports this turn as NCA and issues a “Driver Gr II – I NCA – Muslim” notification. Only Muslim candidates can apply, and the selected candidate fills that turn.
